FIBROID

A benign tumor of muscular and fibrous tissues, typically developing in the wall of the uterus. It’s not a malignant or cancerous tumor. Usually, this happens during the preparation period for the baby. These tumors can be divided into three types depending on where they appear.

1.        Subserosal fibroids:

A tumor that may form on the outer wall of the uterus. About 55% of tumors come from the outside of the uterus.

2.    Intramural fibroids:

It can occur in the muscle between the outer and inner wall of the uterus. About 40% of uterine tumors occur in this area.

3.    Submucosal fibroids:

This is the inner wall of the uterus or endometrium. The changes of getting tumors in this area are very low. About 5% of uterine tumors occur. If there’s a fibroid in the endometrium of the uterus, there will be excessive menstrual bleeding. Fertility problems can occur. Submucosal fibroids are also the most likely to lead to pregnancy and fertility problems.

Causes:

·        Surveys show that uterine tumors can be caused by genetic, hormonal, or environmental influences. It’s also more likely to be inherited. Therefore, it’s better to check these at regular intervals.

·        These tumors are more common in women in their 20s and 40s. Once menopause is reached, the chances of getting uterine tumors are very low.

Symptoms:

·        There will be more pain and more bleeding during menstruation. Bleeding may last up to seven days in response to three days.

·        Infertility can occur without any complications.

·        If it is a large tumor, there’s pressure on the adjacent organ, which can cause some discomfort.

·        Frequent urination and constipation occur.

·        Lower back and leg pain may occur.

Who can get tumors?

People who are infertile are more likely to develop fibroid tumors. As such, tumors can occur in women who have only one child. They are more likely to develop tumors because they have more hormonal changes.

Tumors that affect child birth:

These uterine tumors are the cause of infertility in 5-10% of women who are treated for infertility. This will only show up when the scan is done. Submucosal tumors of the inner wall usually affect fertility.  If intramural tumors in a large size, it affects fertility. Other tumors do not affect fertility.

Treatment:

·        Medication and pills cannot dissolve these tumors. This tumor doesn’t dissolve automatically. Subserosal tumors do not affect fertility. It doesn’t require treatment. This should only be noticed if you have any problems with these tumors.

·        Intramural tumors can be easily removed by Laproscopic Myomectomy. Laproscopy involves surgically inserting small holes to avoid major injury and scarring. The time to recover and return home is also quick.

·        To remove submucosal tumors, a Hysteroscopic Myomectomy is performed. This treatment can be done in a day. There will be no pain. There are no side effects from the treatment. After these treatments, normalcy can return to life.

Tumor can be treated without surgery:

MRI- GUIDED FOCUSED ULTRA SOUND THERAPY. In this treatment, the patient is sent into an MRI device. Then, experts will look at exactly where the tumor is and how big it’s and plan treatment. Then, a focused ultra sound wave is transmitted. Typically, an ultra sound wave emanates from a center and expands. Let’s find out what’s where it goes. But, in this ultra sound treatment, the sound wave is transmitted from a very wide area. Experts plan to keep its focus on the uterine tumor. The sound wave that reaches focal point destroys the fibroid. Thus, for other organs, healthy tissues will not be affected. You can return home as an outpatient. However, this does not guarantee a 100 percent accurate solution. Some fibroid can be cured with this treatment. Therefore, for any type of tumor, what kind of treatment should be consulted with the Doctor to get results.

Preventive methods:

There are no preventive measures to prevent these tumors. But there are healthy foods and if there is enough exercise, it’s usually possible to take care of uterus related problems. Have greens, fruits, nuts and low calories foods. In addition, exercise is essential. Oily foods, fast foods, and high calorie foods should be avoided.

Kidney Failure- Dialysis

KIDNEY FAILURE –DIALYSIS

Kidneys:

The kidneys are paired organs located on either side of the back. These are above the waistline and protected by ribs.

Functions of the kidney:

The kidneys are the body’s chief chemists.

They balance the body’s water content and body chemicals.

They remove waste products from the blood.

They produce different hormones and chemicals.

These help to produce red blood cells.

They help the body use vitamin D which keeps bones strong and healthy.

They control blood pressure.

The function of the renal system:

The renal system consists of the paired kidneys and ureters, the bladder and the urethra.

The kidneys remove waste products from the blood.

Ureters carry these waste products as urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder.

The urethra eventually passes out the urine from the body.

Loss of kidney function:

The two kidneys in our body work 24hrs a day to separate waste products from the blood. The urine, which is excreted by the kidneys, is drip-fed into the bladder through the water. Every day, 180 liters of blood goes into both kidneys. Blood travels through the 140mile long sieve – like microtubules in the kidneys to remove waste products. When this activity is reduced to less than 15 percent, excess water stays in the legs and lungs. Toxins can cause various harms without leaving. This is what we call kidney failure. This can be divided into three types: Acute, Chronic and Mature or End- Stage.

Symptoms of kidney failure:

When the kidneys gradually fail, at one point their efficiency will drop to less than 70 percent. Until then most people are likely to have nothing that’s a big hassle is likely to come. The following symptoms can be caused by kidney failure.

Urinary incontinence less or more than usual.

Sudden swelling of the hands, feet and face.

High blood pressure.

Anorexia, nausea, vomiting.

Bitterness in the mouth.

Physical exhaustion, fatigue, dizziness.

Psychological problems such as lack of interest in anything insomnia at night, sleep during the day.

Head ache, body aches, pain in the bones.

Acutekidney failure:

Kidneys that were working well may suddenly fail. It can be caused by accidental blood loss, high blood pressure, infection of the kidneys, adverse effects of certain medications, stone blockage in the renal tubule urinary obstruction due to the inflammation of prostate gland. They may need temporary dialysis treatment. In most cases, within two or four weeks, the kidneys begin to function properly. Dialysis treatment may not necessary to be done continuously. With proper treatment, the kidneys can return to normal.

Symptoms of acute kidney failure:

Reduced urine output.

Swollen legs, ankles, and feet.

Weakness and fatigue.

High blood pressure.

Confusion.

Chronic kidney failure:

It’s caused by the kidneys gradually being affected for various reasons on a monthly or yearly basis. For this is due to diabetes and high blood pressure.

Symptoms of chronic kidney failure:

Abnormal blood and urine tests.

Swelling in the face, hands, and feet.

Headaches.

High blood pressure.

End stage kidney failure:

The kidneys have no chance of working again. The main cause of this problem are chronic kidney damage, genetic disorders, tumors in the kidneys and nephritis. If the kidney becomes completely inactive, an artificial cleansing treatment called dialysis will be required. Of these, there are two types, hemodialysis and peritonial dialysis. Both of these are only temporary solutions. Kidney transplant surgery is the only permanent solution for them.

To prevent kidney damage:

If kidney failure is detected early, no medication is needed. We can set right it through our eating habits.

Urea, creatine which are present in the blood, helps the kidneys flush out toxins, and maintain the body’s water balance. Therefore, one can take easily digestible vegetables, spinach and natural foods in order to reduce its function. Eat hydrated fruits and vegetables such as radishes, cucumbers and watermelons.

It’s best to avoid salty foods such as spices and monosodium glutamate. It’s also important to avoid chemicals in foods and processed foods.

Getting up early in the morning and doing breathing exercises purifies the blood. This strengthening the renal blood vessels.

Hemodialysis – Machine blood purification:

Hemodialysis is the artificial purification of impure blood. During dialysis treatment, toxins in the blood, including water, are removed with the help of machines. For this, blood is pumped from the body through a tube into a dialysis machine. There it is purified and returned to the body through another tube.

Method of hemodialysis:

During the first dialysis, small holes are drilled in the neck area. At the same time, a minor operation called an arteriovenous fistula is performed on the hand. That’s they will have a small operation on the area between the left wrist and elbow and a small machine will be fitted. This allows the blood to be pumped into the dialysis machine at a sufficient pressure. You have to wait up to a month for this surgery to be done. Until then, dialysis will be done through a tube in the neck area. Once the fistula is ready, it will be dialyzed through a blood vessel in the hand.

In this method the needle is inserted into the large blood vessel that carries good blood to the wrist and into the small blood vessel that carries impure blood. Bad blood coming from the body will go into the dialysis machine. Inside the machine is a fluid called dialysate which purifies the blood. The fibers inside the dialyzer will filter out unwanted red blood cells, water and waste. Only purified blood can go back into the body.

Dialysis should be done two or three times a week depending on the patient’s vulnerability. It takes three to four hours to do dialysis. Even with dialysis three times a week, only 30 percent of kidney function occurs. This dialysis method is suitable for those who are at home. But, dialysis is not optimal for those who go to work. It’s best for them to have a kidney transplant.

Peritonialdialysis:

Peritonial dialysis is a surgical procedure in which a tube is permanently inserted into the abdomen. By injecting purified water called dialysate into it, and the patient undergoes dialysis.

KidneyTransplantation:

Kidney transplantation surgery is recommended to avoid side effects including fatigue caused by regular dialysis. Donating one of the two kidneys of a healthy person to a person who has brain death due to an accident can match the kidney to the victim. Generally, people who have had a kidney transplant need to take medication for the rest of their life to keep the immune system and that do not affect the kidneys. Should also be under constant medical supervision.

Diet for patients with kidney failure:

Don’t drink too much water. Drinking too much water can cause water retention in the legs and lungs. The level of toxins in the blood continues to rise. The result is an increase in blood pressure.

Avoid salt in your daily diet. Avoid fatty titbits with added salt. Increasing the impact of salt.

Juice, Soft drinks, Coffee, Tea, etc. should be avoided.

Eat less watery vegetables and fruits.

Potassium rich foods should be avoided. Protein rich foods should be taken in moderation.

Rectal Cancer

RECTAL CANCER

Many people are in the habit of buying and using constipation pills that are sold in chemists. The right way is to find out what the real cause of constipation is and to eliminate the problem. Therefore it is important to make the necessary changes in eating habits so that constipation does not appear.

Symptoms of rectal cancer:

Rectal cancer cells do not show any signs until the first six months. There is a little bit of spreading inside only when the blood emerges through the anus and comes to know that something has suffered.

Even so, as soon as it’s taken no one will doubt whether it is cancerous. The risk may be exacerbated if you spend days deciding on your own that it’s hemorrhoids without subjecting yourself to proper testing and thinking that eating aloe for four days will be fine.

What to do if it was another perverse vulnerability than hemorrhoids? so whatever the problem with constipation, it’s safe to get tested early.

Even after defecating in the morning in the early days there’s still a feeling of having to go further without feeling completely defecated. This is an important sign. Often this symptom can be seen permanently if there is cancer in the lower part of the rectum. You may also need to defecate several times a day. No matter how many times you go to the ‘toilet’ the feeling of not being completely discharged will continue.

This annoyance can lead to the crisis of having to get up before the time you usually get up in the morning and go for defecate. If blood and mucus are present in the stool in this condition, It’s definitely a sign of cancer. Over the course of the day, they may experience more pain. Pain with itching in the prostate and bladder when the cancer has penetrated the rectum. Pelvic nerve pain appears when it spreads to the spine. These can be unbearable pain.

Tests:

Only after bleeding at least two or three times do some people go for an examination to see what happens. If those who go like that go to the right place is there cancer by proper tests, or not? Can be sure. In some cases, finger test can be used to diagnose an early- stage tumor, and if there’s a suspicion that it may be a cancerous tumor, a small amount of tissue may be collected and sent for tissue examination. If there’s a suspicion that there may be more than one tumor, give barium enema and taka a CT scan can be used to determine the exact spread of the cancer. Tissue examination can help confirm the disease and determine the severity of the disease.

Treatment:

If the presence of cancerous tumors in the rectum is confirmed, the solution is to safely surgically remove them. Otherwise the cruelty of the pain will be too great. Attempts will be made to reduce the pain by examining whether the cancer has passed the rectum and affecting the peripheral organs and, if the spread of the disease is too high, abandon surgery and resort to external radiation therapy and anti- cancer drugs.

If the spread is low, that is, if there is only one tumor in the rectum and liver, then surgery may be needed to prolong life. For some people, surgery may be more effective if they have cancer in the lower part of the rectum. Although only the upper part of the intestine is cancerous, only the affected part is removed and the intestine reconnected.

In some cases, the entire rectum may need to be removed due to cancer, after which a colostomy may be performed in the descending colon on the left side of the stomach to expel food waste.

Heart Burn

Definition:

A form of indigestion felt as a burning sensation in the chest, caused by acid regurgitation into the esophagus.

There can be many causes for heart burn. The first of these is acid, coming up the throat. This means that some of the digestive juices found in the stomach, which help indigestion, leave the stomach and come up to the throat. Hydrochloric acid is one of these acids. Although such spicy acids are extracted in the stomach, the stomach have protective walls that do not damage the stomach. But there are no protective barriers to this acid in the esophagus. This causes a kind of pain in the esophagus. Sometimes when the effects are severe, something like a chest pain may appear.

Causes of heart burn:

v Alcohol abuse

v Over eating

v Stress

v Chocolate

v Smoking

v Obesity

v Pancreatic inflammation

v Coffeine.

Symptoms of heart burn:

v Dry mouth

v Sour/ bitter taste in mouth

v Pain in the throat

v Burning in chest/ throat

v Tooth erosion

v Chronic cough.

v Bad breath due to slight regurgitation of acidic foods.

v Stomach noises.

v Having a hard time sleeping or laying down due to pain.

v Nausea and sometimes loss of appetite.

v Gum irritation, including tenderness and bleeding.

The reason for the acids rise in the stomach is that many people incarnate glutton. But for some friends who do not over eat, this may come as an uninvited guest.

v Lie on the right side = More reflux

v Lie on the left side = Less reflux.

Don’t Over Eat:

Stomach acids are pushed up as more food fills the stomach. Although there are many causes for acid reflux, this is the main cause of occasional heart burn. Chili and some spicy spices often do not cause heart burn.

Dinner should be completed two and a half hours before bed time.

Don’t Lie Horizontally:

Don’t lie down horizontally thinking that the heart burn may be a little tilted which will aggravate the problem. Stand up straight, acid does not rise on top.

                   Herat burn

(Additional signs of heart burn/ acid reflux)

                         Heart attack

(Additional signs of angina/ heart attack)

Symptoms occur when bending over lifting an object lying down (especially on your back) or after meals.

Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach.

Sensation of acid backing up into the throat or mouth

shortness of breath

Stomach fullness, upper abdominal pain, nausea

Cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness

Burping, bloating, flatulence

Drugs:

If you take pills like antioxidant, get slight relief. Sometimes anesthetics, such as those taken for other ailments, can aggravate this.

Home remedies to get rid of acidity:

1.     Cold milk:

v Calcium from cold milk stops acid build up in the stomach.

2.     Ginger:

v Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties which help cure acidity.

3.     Cardamom:

v Cardamom is known to sooth the inner lining of our stomach and reduces the effects of excess acid produced.

4.     Buttermilk:

v Lactic acid in buttermilk helps dilute the acidity in the stomach.

5.     Mint leaves:

v Mint leaves help digestion and in lowering the acid content in the stomach.

6.     Banana:

v Bananas contain antacids especially a ripe banana.

7.     Cumin seeds:

v Chew cumin seeds directly or simmer in water to make cumin tea to soothe acidity.

8.     Baking soda water:

v Add a table spoon of baking soda to warm water and drink this to treat acidity.

9.     Aloevera:

v Half a cup of aloe vera juice may help reduce heart burn when consumed.

10. Chewing sugarless:

v It was found that chewing gum may stimulate salivation, which in turn works to neutralize acidity.

1.     1. What is the difference between Alka Seltzer and Tums? Which one is more effective for heartburn/acid reflux?

Ans:

v Both Alka-Seltzer and Tums are over-the-counter drugs frequently used to treat heartburn and acid reflux symptoms, but their mechanisms of action and active components vary.

v An effervescent antacid and painkiller, Alka-Seltzer. It contains citric acid and sodium bicarbonate, which when mixed with water provide a fizzing effect. As an antacid, sodium bicarbonate works to neutralize excess stomach acid and temporarily relieve heartburn and indigestion. Alka-Seltzer's effervescent properties can also aid in reducing stomach gas bubbles.

v Contrarily, Tums are chewable pills that are part of the group of drugs known as calcium carbonate antacids. Direct stomach acid neutralization is how calcium carbonate acts to quickly relieve heartburn symptoms. Additionally, Tums include calcium, which is advantageous for those who lack calcium.

v Alka-Seltzer or Tums for heartburn or acid reflux may be more beneficial, depending on your particular preference and the precise symptoms you're dealing with. Both can offer momentary relief, although their methods of action are slightly different.

v If you prefer a fizzy solution and have mild symptoms, Alka-Seltzer may be a suitable choice. However, if you prefer a chewable tablet and have more frequent or severe heartburn, Tums may be more effective due to its direct acid-neutralizing action. It's important to note that if you have persistent or severe symptoms, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and guidance on the most appropriate treatment.

2.     2. What are some foods that can help soothe heartburn symptoms?

Ans:

There are several foods that may help reduce the symptoms of heartburn if you are experiencing them. Here are some alternatives to think about:

  1. Oatmeal: Oatmeal has a high fiber content and has the ability to absorb extra stomach acid, which relieves heartburn.
  2. Ginger: Ginger can help calm the digestive tract and contains natural anti-inflammatory qualities. You can ingest ginger in the form of tea, sweets, or fresh ginger added to food.
  3. Bananas: Because they have little acid, bananas can help balance stomach acid. They also include organic antacids, which can be soothing.
  4. Green veggies: Non-citrus green vegetables with low acid content, such as broccoli, asparagus, spinach, and green beans, may help lessen heartburn symptoms.
  5. Melons: Because they contain a lot of water, melons including watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew might lessen the acidity of the stomach.
  6. Whole grains: Brown rice, whole wheat bread, and whole grain pasta are examples of whole grain foods that are high in fiber and can assist the body absorb gastric acid.
  7. Almonds: Almonds can help neutralize gastric acid because they are alkaline. They can serve as a heartburn remedy and a healthful snack.
  8. Herbal teas: Licorice, marshmallow root, and chamomile teas are well-known for their calming effects and can help ease heartburn symptoms.

It's crucial to pay attention to your body and discover any specific triggers that may make your heartburn worse. Individual sensitivities to foods can differ, so keep this in mind. For specific counsel and direction, it's also a good idea to speak with a healthcare expert.
